Fondazione Ferrero in Alba presents the exhibition Giuseppe Penone. Impronte di luce, an extensive anthological exhibition dedicated to the work of one of the greatest protagonists of international contemporary art, specially conceived for the Foundation’s spaces.
The exhibition, curated by Jonas Storsve in collaboration with the artist, brings together more than one hundred works that form a visual narrative of Penone’s rich artistic production from the 1960s to the present day. The red thread of the exhibition is the theme of the imprint, a privileged subject of the artist’s research, which can be found throughout the entire span of his production. From the work Alpi Marittime of 1968, the first experiment of direct contact between the body and the forest, to the series Impronte di luce (2022 – 2023), presented in this context for the first time in Italy.
The itinerary of the exhibition explores the theme of the imprint, from drawing to photography, from modelling to carving, in a precise compendium of the wide range of genres and techniques used by the artist. The theme of the imprint, in Giuseppe Penone’s vision, becomes synonymous with the contact between different surfaces and finds its own ideal manifestation in nature, understood as a global ecosystem of which every element is an integral part, from man to leaf, from tree to earth.
